NWO Domain Social Sciences and Humanities has recently awarded funding to Prof. Nick Ramsey.
Translating silent speech to a speech computer is a intuitive and effective way of communicating. Together with our team of experts, Mariska Vansteensel, Zac Freudenburg and Mathijs Raemaekers, we will investigated whether overt or covert spoken words can be read directly from the brain using a combination of 7T fMRI and ECoG.
With the results of this project, we intend to have sufficient evidence to provide people with severe paralysis with implantable BCI’s for communication by silent speech.
This project will start after the summer and will last for 4 years.
